This is a fascinating read showing the impact the ocean has not only on the marine life, but the entire climate as well. There is so much information about whales and other marine life as told by Kip, a blue whale, and the impact the changing environment of our oceans is having on them. Very easy and interesting read. The author has great skill in delivering a lot of information in a few word. Made me want to find out more about whales. – John Mc Cullough

What an interesting and intriguing way to present the important subject of our oceans survival! The clever presentation of this important information appeals to all ages everywhere. From the viewpoint of Kip, the charming blue whale, the book is written from his standpoint as he shares the entire story of the past, present and future of our oceans, with his relatives, friends, and a few enemies, in a fascinating manner which is bound to hold everyone’s attention, young and old. This book should be in every classroom and library everywhere! I loved it, and read it all in one sitting. Having just finished reading the prologue and an excerpt from the book “Blue Speaks Eternally”, I am very much looking forward to reading the entire book. It is very well written, easy to understand and full of important facts concerning the ever increasing destruction of our ocean habitat. The story should appeal to folks of all ages and, hopefully, bring a heightened awareness of just how much our human habits are affecting the health of the entire ocean ecosystem. – Judith Endicott, fan of Krillionaire by Victoria Wagner

Blue Speaks Eternally by Victoria Wagner, with its breathtakingly beautiful cover, has a dire message for our planet and a warning for those who ignore the findings.

Setting the stage in her introspective Prologue, Ms. Wagner quotes a statement by the NRDC’s marine mammal project director, “The Navy’s plan to dramatically increase its sonar training and underwater detonations off the Southern California coast shouldn’t come at the expense of the state’s marine life.”

Blue Speaks Eternally, told by the affected blue whales themselves in a delightful way, reveals a troubling story of an alarming increase in pollution and ocean acidification contributing to climate change affecting the entire planet. Most of us have seen some of these alarming trends, but few realize that disruption of our ocean life has had such a strong effect. We need to protect our beautiful blue whales and the marine ecosystem.

We can all come together to save the oceans, the blue whale – the largest creature ever known to have lived on the planet…- and the arctic meltdown from forever changing the planet in our lifetime.” This story should be required reading in schools and available in all libraries – for it is imperative that we must all listen, as Blue speaks!!! – Sherrill S Cannon, Award-Winning Children’s books, View Website

Blue Speaks Eternally is a fiction work by Victoria Wagner. It’s the story of a blue whale named Kip, who is a young adult traveling with his pod, or family, from their winter grounds near La Jolla, California, up along the coast, to the arctic Chukchi Sea where they summer. Along the way, Kip meets with other whales, seals, sea otters and other marine mammals. They discuss the Navy’s plan to conduct tests that will kill many of their kind and injure thousands of other sea dwellers. Other topics they share are their thoughts about their lives in the sea and the good interactions they’ve had with human beings. The numbers of blue whales are still nowhere near where they should be; however, the bans on whaling and the increased surveillance of “scientific whaling” practices are helping these oldest and largest mammals to reestablish themselves.

Victoria Wagner’s novel, Blue Speaks Eternally, is filled with information on sea mammals, from the small sea otter, to the elusive sea unicorn, the Narwhal, and the giant blue whale. Hearing the stories from her main character, Kip, the young adult blue whale, made me feel like I was sharing their lives as they migrated the thousands of miles up north, and it was quite an amazing and marvelous voyage. I winced at the discussions of the naval exercises and the damage they cause, as I cannot see any justification for the practices, but I did appreciate the author’s ability to present both sides of the argument. Blue Speaks Eternally shows the wonders of the existence ocean dwellers and the great sea mammals share, and the specter of a world where the seas are devoid of marine life. It’s eloquent and very moving, and it’s highly recommended. – Jack Magnus, Readers’ Favorite
