Daisy and Friends What Happened to Yesterday: A Covid-19 Story begins with the definition of the words pandemic and essential workers. The story then explains the changes in our daily lives before and during the pandemic.
“Pandemic: When many people in a country or even all over the world have the same illness.”
“Covid-19: A flu-like illness that passes from one person to another person when they have this illness by sneezing and coughing without covering their nose and mouth. Another way people contract Covid-19 is touching something that the affected person has touched. Some people do not know that they are sick with the Covid-19 until a few days after when they show symptoms of the illness. This is the reason why everyone needs to wear their masks in public, sanitize and wash their hands frequently, and stay six feet away from people they do not live with.”
Inspiration for the author’s books comes from her working over 20 years as a pre-school teacher observing children at work and play.
Daisy and Friends Waiting for the School Bus
“Hi! My name is Daisy. Meet my three dog friends Smoky, Rocky and H-Dee. We are waiting for the school bus to bring our friends home from school. Would you like to wait for the school bus with us?”
Daisy and Friends Waiting for the School Bus is the third book in a series featuring the cat Daisy. This transportation story teaches children ages 1 to 6 the name and use of each vehicle shown on the illustrated pages of the book. Learn about dump trucks, fire trucks, tow trucks, bulldozers, motorcycles, a mail delivery truck, and of course, school buses!
A portion of the proceeds from the Daisy and Friends book series will benefit three charities: Kitty Angels, a no-kill cat shelter in Coventry, Connecticut; and Protectors of Animals, a no-kill animal shelter and rescue, and Bandit’s Place, Inc., a pet rescue and adoption center, both in East Hartford, Connecticut.
Daisy and Friends: How to Stay Healthy
Daisy the Cat and her three dog friends, Smokie, Rocky and Dee, teach children the importance of being healthy and staying safe. They discuss proper nutrition, what to do when you meet a stranger, parking lot safety, limiting TV time, playing outside and much more. Your little one’s new friends will have them making healthier and safer decisions in no time!
Barbara J. Meredith co-owns Kids Express Learning Center & Daycare, LLC in Willington, Connecticut. She is also the director and head teacher. Portions of the proceeds of this book will be donated to Kitty Angels, Bandits Place of Connecticut, Protectors of Animals of Connecticut and the ASPCA.
Daisy and Friends Outside Our Window 
Daisy and Friends Outside Our Window is a rhyming story for toddlers and pre-kindergarteners about the changing seasons. It’s written from inside the house window looking out, as seen by Daisy the cat, and her three dog friends, Smokie, Rocky, and H-Dee.
What do the friends see, when the colorful seasons change from winter to spring, and summer to fall?
Says the author, “During my years as a co-owner of Kids Express Learning Center & Daycare, LLC, I would often observe the toddler and Pre-K children looking out the window. I would ask the children to describe what they were looking at.”

Daisy and Friends: Rocky’s New Friend
Daisy and Friends: Rocky’s New Friend was written by a retired pre-school teacher as a fun learning tool for other teachers. It teaches kids about getting along with others.
Rocky, Smokie, H-Dee, and their friends visit the dog park, where they encounter a smaller dog who is the park bully.
The main characters are Rocky, a German Shepherd; Smokie, an Italian Mastiff; H-Dee, a Rottweiler; Jerry, a Scottish Terrier; and Daisy, a white tiger cat.
When Rocky is bullied by the smaller dog, he knows just the tactics to use to turn the smaller dog from bully to friend.
