I love a good story and there are some great ones in these columns. Funny and entertaining, yes, but with real meaning. The lessons here took me back to a slower time in America, yet applicable to today.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

A book by Jim Davidson always points to uplifting concepts, and Better Than The Best is full of them. Some 60 or so of his manifold newspaper columns were chosen by a committee for this skillful presentation, and the result is a series of positive stories designed to be of help.<\/br><\/br>\n\n\nDescriptions in this book will likely remind you of personal experiences and might cause you to do some things you know you should do. That, of course, would enter right in to the force of the book.<\/br>\n<\/br>\n\n\nThe author frames the book with an acknowledgment, a dedication, and an introduction that give weight to the work. Some of the column headings are in the form of a question, but most state the topic to be presented. However, it is easy to make questions of the headings by adding Who, What, When, Where, or Why. Then, looking for answers sometimes adds to the treat.<\/br><\/br>\n\n\nReferences in these book components include major philosophers, poets, statesmen, businessmen, historical documents, events, and the Bible. From these sources come words to live by and guiding principles which contribute to growth and welfare.<\/br><\/br>\n\nMy friendships with the author and members of his family go back a long time and through various channels . Therefore I have special interests in reading his work. I found many good thoughts and recommendations in this book. Chances are you will too.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
