Biography

Everly Web PicLaura Everly has lived in a small farming and mining community in southeastern Ohio most of her life. The small town she was raised in sits in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Laura Everly graduated from Shenandoah High School. While she attended Shenandoah High School, she was active in band and sports. During her senior year, Laura Everly received the Bober Estadt Scholarship and a Classroom Teacher Association ( CTA) Scholarship. The Bober Estadt Scholarship was a local scholarship that was provided by the family of Bober Estadt. Bober Estadt was a reporter and a respected businessman for Noble County.

Laura Everly graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in English in 1994. After graduating from college, Laura Everly worked for a local weekly newspaper near her hometown. She was a reporter, photographer and became the Sports Editor at this weekly newspaper. She has a total of approximately three years of experience working for newspapers.

After high school and college, Ms. Everly enjoyed volunteering in her community. She helped coach the girls high school basketball team at Shenandoah and also volunteered for the Noble County Historical Society. She was an active Soakum Festival Committee member for five years. The Soakum Festival was a festival that depicted life in Noble County, Ohio in the 1800’s. The Soakum Festival was held in the Noble County Fairgrounds during the last weekend of September.

Ms. Everly also worked for a non profit mental health agency for ten years. During this time, she had the honor of working at the drop in centers. She enjoyed working as a CFORC Coordinator, working in public relations which included writing articles for newspapers, magazines and helping develop pamphlets. She also helped co-write a drop in newsletter and helped write skits and grants for the drop in center members. Ms. Everly enjoyed working with a group of people that wanted to make a difference in their own lives and their community.

Since 2009, Ms. Everly has been a substitute teacher in southeastern Ohio. She has also written and had published a Christian skit book and also wrote for the internet company/website Associated Content which became Yahoo Voices.

Laura Everly’s first children’s book The Mighty Pond Hoppers was published by SBPRA in 2014. Her second children’s book, Leah and Candace Leap Into Spring is currently being printed by SBPRA. It will be released to the public soon. Laura enjoys writing and is looking forward to diving into new writing endeavors that come her way.

Ms. Everly has enjoyed a wide range of volunteering in the last ten years. She helped adults study to receive their GED; still volunteers for the Noble County Historical Society and has volunteered at nursing homes helping with activities and giving educational presentations.

Laura Everly also enjoyed being an adult skit director at her church for two and a half years. She also enjoyed helping with a Sunday School class for teens and helping with a youth group.

Laura Everly enjoys spending time with family and close friends. She enjoys nature and especially fishing. Laura enjoys her time at church on Sunday mornings and loves to travel.
